Animal description

About the Vaal Rhebok (Pelea capreolus)

The Vaal or "grey" rhebok is a species of antelope native to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Swaziland. Their preferred habitat consists of grassy plains and sparsely wooded areas near a freshwater source. Their appearance is similar to that of the traditional antelope, with a ruddy brown coat, which insulates from the cold, and a white underbelly. The male's smooth black antlers grow straight up from the tops of their heads and have beautiful spiral-like detail.
